Wound is one of those words with two different pronunciations as well as different meanings.

Wound: (The first meaning described here is pronounced as woond): an injury, usually involving division of tissue or rupture of the integument or mucous membrane, due to external violence or some mechanical agency rather than disease.

The Wounded Warrior Project is a great organization which raises awareness and enlists the public's aid for the needs of injured service members. Click Here for The Wounded Warrior Project.

Wound: (This meaning is pronounced as wownd): Past tense or past participle of wind. Something which has been turned or twisted. As in she wound the clock or he wound the wire on the coil. They wound their way around the winding road.
